Interestingly enough, I’m giving a presentation to Rehab Med at lunch on podcasting and one of the uses that I outline is the use of podcasts to provide samples of heart sounds – something that some med schools have been doing for quite some time. But them this morning, I see this on the Google/Canadian Press Newswire (btw, great plan on the part of Google to get wire news “straight up” without involving individual papers), docs at the U of A are using recording heart sounds during their patient visits.
Recording the sounds allows for sharing, annotating and archiving of the ancient diagnostic technique that is know to many as being more art than science – something that my brother certainly agrees with.
