Hong Kong’s Hutchison Whampoa (Google News) is looking to bring more capability to cell phones by using broadband to handle calls and data, furthering the abilities of the Ubergadget. If this comes to fruition, this could be the tipping point that gets phones used for mLearning in a more consistent bases as they will essentially be able to handle data in the same way a laptop would be able to and connect to services just as any traditional computer can. This certainly help’s MS’s case for the cell phone being the route to engage the developing world, because if history is any guide, I think we’ll see the service rolled out to North America last.
