No, not the ones that run the system, but rather the ones that act like the organizers/modules of WebCT. They are slightly more flexible from what I’ve seen in as much as you can customize what they contain. Essentially they are like learning modules/binders that allow other activities to be combined into a single screen layout.
One of the things that I like about WebCT is it’s flexibility in how you can present the material/content and one of the things that was really bugging me about Moodle was that it seemed to lock you into a very verbose, very linear way of presenting the data – not very icony at all. With database activities now I can recreate some of what I have in my WebCT template and group content so that it only shows what is required at the time.
Moodle is still very text heavy and I still think that is going to really get to many of the instructors that are using it for the first time, but with a bit of tweaking, I’m sure that I can get the screen weight down and have something that will enable a fair comparison between the two.
