Eventually, time, economy of scale and a lack of legacy support may be what Sony needs to outdo it’s own success with PS2 (GN). Maybe the PS2 is an impulse buy like Sony thinks (GN) the Wii is.
To my own mind, the PS3, even though it’s looking amazing, it’s really the same games that have always been on the PS2, and the PS2 on a regular TV still looks pretty good. So it makes sense that people are taking advantage of the super cheap PS2. The Wii on the other hand is still something totally different (though I wonder if the novelty of the controller wears off or does it make even more sense) and between the price and the novelty of game play experiences, Nintendo is onto something.
