These eagles were everywhere on the harbour in Victoria, much like the cows in Alberta, they seem to be a public art project that is ignored by the locals and admired by the tourists. I didn’t think anything of these when I first saw them… thinking “oh… it’s the BC version of the Alberta thing”… but then I looked at the art on them and was consistently surprised. There was always something on either the front or the back that was a very curious detail. Some of these blended into their background, others told stories, others were just art. This one got me because you can’t really tell which way it’s really going. You eye flips between the images and juxtaposed with bits of the harbour I think it makes an interesting statement on progress as well with representations of different generations.
