I finally caught the Lights this week. This was the first snap that I took, but it was one of the best – using the settings from my last shoot. The first time that I caught a picture of the Lights was actually heading back from Toronto, so it was at about 30Kfeet. This was just in the back yard.
I tried to take some more creative shots. Some came out, others didn’t. Some of the creative shots, even though they were focused to infinity had the stars come out soft. Maybe I needed a longer exposure.
If you look at the other shots in the stream, you’ll see some of these experimental shots. The best of these – and maybe next weeks POW, is a shot of Orion with the three galaxies/stars forming the sword visible. I didn’t think I’d be able to get these, but it was easy enough to get in the back yard. Quite surprising.
