Last weekend, I was hearing lots of chipping in the yard and much to my surprise, this little ball of feathers was tucked up in the grass beside my fence. I thought he had fallen out of a nest and couldn’t fly. That thought didn’t last as s/he quickly scuttled over toward some of my rose bushes and then flew into one of my trees. The next day, I was on the deck with Bug and sure enough, in the same place I found it, this ball of feathers and one of it’s parents. Mom/Dad was flying off and getting bugs to bring to the baby. I am pretty sure that my Bug didn’t see and certainly didn’t understand what was going on, but it was fun none the less to show her what was happening and share that experience.
I captured this last night and this morning I heard the tell tale chipping again so I’m pretty sure that somewhere in my yard I’ve made a nice little home for at least one other family.
