C|Net posted that the average American household stores about one thousand pictures and that is creating a need for archiving. Well that seems odd to me, I would think that 1000 pictures a year are created (numbers are generated by the MDF core of my work desk) and stored per household. Of those, because they are digital, the majority are kept. If this number is right, it really makes one wonder how unusual people on Facebook or Flickr are when some people have on average about 1000 images online – to say nothing of what is offline.
1000 pictures in jpg will fit on a DVD – so what is the great push for storage that they are hinting at all about?
