The BBC is reporting that according to Neilsen, mobile net usage is growing faster than wired usage – fueled by “immediate info” searches for weather and sports in additon to “email” (I’m thinking Social Networking). So it seems that mLearning is something that will happen informally before formal education ever gets around to addressing it. But if formal education does come around to it, I’m thinking that it is going to have to conform to the same “data chunking” that current content adheres to – just enough information, unless there is great motivation (and grades don’t count) – I’m wondering what some of those motivation could be, but I think it would have to be some manner of scaffolding to get students thinking about other things until they can get back into class or onto a more robust machine.
