Mickey gets another friend

Well, yesterday was a holiday, so I missed this, but it seems that Disney has noticed that for all it’s branding, it’s own social networking sites are really not flying that high. The solution – like many others have done in the past – is to buy something that is working (GN). This thing is Club Penguin, a Kelowna BC based social network for kids up to about 12/13 years old.

People are really hoping that Disney doens’t mess up the success formula for the sites, but I think that should be a mute point now given who is likely calling the shots on things in Disney now. Jobs and Iger are a much more savy duo than Eisner was (I think the later was the “evil Disnyfier”). Afterall, it was an edict from Jobs that killed the DTD sequels, so I think it’s going to be a safe bet that the little waddling world of CP will remain much like it is now… save a visit from a mouse and some new hats.
