Well, the MacBU has put their nose into the cuffufle surrounding the new format that will descend on the “turfers” of the world (the people using word processors) and said that they will have their converters out as soon as possible. Which should be ok for a good 99% or people doing actual work out there because they are not likely to upgrade unless they get some mission critical feature (which may be allowing Outlook/Entourage to subscribe to calendars) the day after it comes out. So in the months that it takes for the converters to show up, it’s probably going to be right on time for when the first wave of adopters on the Windows side are going to start sending out a critical mass of docx documents (assuming that the IT people who install leave that setting as the default, or MS doesn’t do it before Office ships). So while the delay may be annoying for some, the biggest issue is still the lack of VBA on the Mac… and that should be the thing that people are really worried about.
