Well, this may be just as annoying as the song – the latest “proof of concept” “virus” for MacOS has been found. Macarena is supposed to append itself to the end of files in a particular folder.
Before I go and file this under DiHydrogen Monoxide (clicky, clicky) with the rest of the FUD (in my mind Norton and it’s kin “create” these Mac viri to sell their own product), I am thinking that it may be time for us Mac people to be a little less smug about our virus free worlds. I’m not sure how one would step beyond this POC and move into something that would gain access to the system, but I don’t think it will be long and likely through one of the many update systems that are used in the OS.
