The Register is reporting that there is a POC for OSX adware now. F-Secure explains that this exploit make use of a feature (hopefully not an MS Office style feature) that allows applications to installed into the system library and then executed ever time you open another application.
I’ve lumped this under DH2O because as soon as C|Net gets wind of it, they will proclaim it to be the latest Mac virus.
Hopefully the fix for this is similar to what Apple has done in the past by prompting users when they run an application for the first time. I don’t know how this POC gets around that, but hopefully Apple is on it.
