It seems that Google just now noticed (maybe a couple years late) that it’s trademarked name has entered the common lexicon. It’s a Catch 22 for them as the marketing kids are partying it up and the trademark dweebs are playing it down. But is this really a bad thing? And does Google think that anyone is actually going to care or listen? Just take a look at all the others that are in the same boat:
- Xerox
- Adobe (it’s not the same a Acrobat people!)
- Nintendo (DS – GC – which one??)
- Photoshop (double up on Adobe)
- … many more (care to add some?)
