Blackberry frustrations

One of the things that sucks about powerful devices is that the more they do, the more that can go wrong. This is what’s happening with my Blackberry now. It seems that the software has the tendency to randomly corrupt. For me, this means that sometimes people don’t hear me when I call right away, other times it means that calls just don’t connect. It also, and most troublingly, means that at times the navigation features die. This is what happened just yesterday. I can’t scroll up on my device. A quick call to Rogers tech support told me that all I needed to do was “reload the software”. Sure… fine…

Well, RIM only plays natively with Windows, so my solution was to use Parallels, but it seems that the BB Desktop Manager doesn’t like to play with a virtual machine to the point to seriously messing up my VM. So if anyone from RIM is listening, please for the love of god, make a Mac native manager, or make the software installer something that can be loaded directly to the device and run from there – it would make all this much simpler. I just have to hope that I can get lucky with Parallels and update my device, lest I end up with a little black brick.
