Well, if you are connecting from out East and you download a boatload of data, Rogers seems to have found a way to let you know that you are close to your data limit. Wired posted a story about it today, so I’m sure it’s going to be talked about in geek circles for a while.
I’m of two minds on this. On one side, it is a good idea that Rogers lets people know that the limit is coming up, but I’m thinking that there are better ways to do this (a proxy server/authentication). The other it’s bad in a million ways. Hijacking a page without any defense possible on the part of the victim. So not only does this open holes for those who control “pipes” to alter content, but it’s something that anyone from governments to script kiddies could/would do if given the chance, to say nothing of schools.
