It seems that I’m not alone in thinking that the lack of a vibration feature is going to be a real deal breaker in the next gen console race. The big three were all sued by a smaller company (Anascape) who claimed patent/copyright infingement and it seems that Sony, by going wireless perhaps admitted wrongdoing (they’d never do that would they?). But then again, the company is now nowhere to be seen so it may not be the case. It may be as sone have suggested that Sony thinks that vibration would drain batteries and be too heavy for many players.
A recent poll suggests that force feedback is key (shockingly, this poll was sponsored by Immersion Corp – makers of force feedback controllers) and that many were not aware that Sony will not ship a rumbling Dual Shock 3(?) controller with the PS3.
For all the hacking I have been doing on the PS3, I’m not a hater, but I’m not too enthused at Sony making the device to be the be all and end all. Granted MS is doing the same thing, but there is some sort of method to madness over there and Nintendo is winning my dollars now for it’s simplicity.
