Will laptops ever be allowed in the air again?

After the terror scare where “liquids” became “weapons”, UK flights also banned laptops and other electronics in the cabin. Shortly there after, Sony batteries used in Apple, Dell and now Toshiba (Canadian recall) laptops were recalled as they might catch fire. Three now (Virgin Atlantic, Korean Airlines and Quantas) don’t allow these laptops to have their batteries installed in the cabin.

All this does not bode well for the business traveller or fan of ubiquitous computing.
