McVideogame

In a stark counterpoint to Food Force, I found McVideogame thanks to Kariosnews. I haven’t played with it much yet, but I’m sure it’s going to be interesting.

Here is an interview with the creators.

Edit:

Well after playing the game, it’s easy to see that it is more of a simulator than Food Force which is more of an interactive lesson and an exercise in clicking. I keep forgetting the source of the quote, but it says that edutainment is the worst of education and entertainment combined. While I didn’t see Food Force like that, comparing it to McVideo is like looking at a baby learning to lift his/her head and expecting the little raisin to be able to run a marathon.

McVideo is certainly a very pointed game and though it’s very obvious in its targets, it is also gets its point across well that there is a massive chain behind something that is very simple. A good simulation – if a bit harsh for most people – that drops you into the system as it stands now, so the learning is oriented toward the management and interrelation side of things. It may have been more interesting to do it as a Sim type game where you work your way up through one of the stages to eventually control them all.
