Normally museums are not very well bright, in order to protect the art, but you’d think that one with aircraft would be the opposite right? It wasn’t really the case here though. The Edmonton Aviation Museum is rather dark and the gloomy day didn’t help. But with a little help from the technology and some experimentation, I was able to get a decent shot. The first few times, I just shot manually, but after seeing that the exposure was the same on M as it was on P, I just left it on P. I didn’t have much choice for aperture – it was going to be 2.8 or nothing. I could have bumped the ISO to get some more DOF, but instead, I stayed at 800 and got what I wanted – nice DOF around the pilot.
