This kinda matches the mood at the end of the week. Not only did someone that everybody “knew” pass away this week, on the same day we lost someone in our family as well. Interestingly enough, both likely interacted with the same number of people and while one made a very obvious difference in the lives of many, the impact of the other may not have been so clear cut.
But enough with the deep talk, and back to the picture. I could have cropped this up a bit to bring out the bird, but I didn’t even though a considerable amount of detail would have likely survived. I kept the original framing to show how relatively close I got. These Tree Swallows are quite flighty birds, so getting this close was a challenge without using bait. Doing this sort of photography makes me want for a longer lens and I guess I could make do with a 1.4 TC. I could have got a closer shot at f5.6 and ISO200. As the bird population in the neighborhood increases, that will certainly be something to think about getting.
