After cooking up a storm, one might want to settle down with a good book right? So Nintendo has come up with 100 Classic Books. While it might only be available in the UK (and therefore for UK DS units?), it certainly bodes well for all manner of additional non gaming applications for the Nintendo platform. If we add this to WiiFit and the seemingly ever increasing range of copycat “games”, it seems that Nintendo has figured out that there is just as much (if not more) money to be made by using inexpensive technology to deliver all manner of content, with just enough fidelity, right to where it might be used the most.
Before you write this off as something that kids will never go for, it does one thing that will likely help pull kids in – downloadable content related to each book. While I don’t know what this content is, I can imagine that these little bits of extra are going to go a long way in helping kids get into these books “in their own environment”.
