I never thought it would be hard work to lift and carve a pumpkin, but five days after surgery it certainly was. The excitement that came along with having done something “normal” combined with the meds let me get onto the floor as shoot this – granted with a tripod and remote release. This past week, I added a flash bracket and a more powerful flash to my stable of gear, so in addition to long exposures that play with available light, I’ll now be able to get far more creative with artificial light as well, working Master/Slave shots. In this shot I also tried “painting” the light as well by using an LED (hence the blue light) flashlight to illuminate the scars around the eyes – it seems to have worked out rather well. I certainly feel that I’ve come a long way since my early days in P&S.
