Pic of the Week – Put up lights II

Put up lights II

Well, it’s Snowman season, and this year my wife added two more of these acrylic critters to the house (as well as one ceramic one). I shot this with the 60mm, playing around with DoF again. As it turns out, that you really need a small aperture to get an entire subject isolated when shooting macro. This seems a bit counter intuitive because macros are usually fast lenses with large apertures as a feature. Of course, DoF changes with the range to the subject, so I guess my observation only applies to small items.
