One of the lists that I’m on had the following reference come up;
Information Technology and Libraries, 26, no. 1: 23-34 (March 2007)
So I decided to google and check it out as well as asking the campus librarians what is going on here on campus and found:
- Engineering Information & Reference Services
- Polar Reference and Information Group
- U of A Librarians
So it seems that there are some models for use already here on campus for the cohorts and medical students to follow.
My hope in exploring this is to help eliminate the social differences between school life and personal life in such a way as to help students feel part of their school. If they know and care about what their colleagues who they may only see at school are doing and if they can connect to some degree with what their profs and other instructional staff are doing in their personal and professional lives, I think it can and will lead to a better experience for everyone.
I am a big fan of trying to separate “stressors” – so work stays at work, and home at home. But even though this seems to be counter-intuitive to that idea, I think it can be pulled off as the type of content that is posted is sometimes work related, but is most often personal and at the end of the day, if we can connect people as people, that will help more than any amount of technology can.
