Up in the Air

Well it seems that things are still up in the air. I’m still disrupted, but I’ve got a short term contract in the VPIT’s office doing some really interesting work. I haven’t been sitting still over this involuntary break, I’ve been working on a PhD application as well as my running. I’ve managed three long runs one 19k and two 21km. So I think I’m on track for a good first race half marathon in August.

Well I took the girls to TCI and had a great time. You can see the full gallery here and read my Trip Advisor review here. It was quite something to say the least and it is a place that now rivals Disney in my heart. If I want a “do something” vacation, I’ll hit the Parks, if I want to do nothing, I’ll hit TCI. Finally, as the Flame has passed Edmonton now, I don’t think I’ve got a chance this time around to run it… maybe the next Olympics that come by… I should be 50 something by then.

Well it’s official, I’ll be the one in charge of documenting (in stills) the first Timeraisers event in Edmonton. It should be a good time and a great experience for everyone. It seems my blog has come up as one of Edmonton’s Art Blogs… interesting for sure, but more interesting is the group that found me – Timeraisers is a group that is raising volunteer time rather than money by auctioning art that has been purchased by the group at fair market value. The first Edmonton event is coming up in the 7pm on Oct 17th at the Arts Barn (10330 84 Avenue NW). I might volunteer some photography time and hopefully next year I’ll be able to have a print available for bids.

Well, the traveling part of September is over, and now the only interesting thing is the Turkey Trot (I’ll be doing the 8k route tomorrow). It will be Aishani’s first fun run… well, she’ll be wheeled.

Victoria certainly was an adventure. First trip with all the kids, first flights, first time to the Inner Harbour (I think). Travel is always worth it, and when I can score a few good shots from the process, why not. My Victoria album is online now.

Saw a Humpback in the wild, likely from about 700m away, but wild as likle closer than I’ll get for a while. Was totally worth the money, had there been no whale, then the “rock sausages” wouldn’t have quite tipped the scales, as cool as they were. Seeing Bald Eagles would have have blown the top off this experience, or saved a non whale trip.

Well, I’ve got the add credits, so I might as well use them to promote my services. It is interesting how narrow you can put your target zone. Apparently mine will be sent to just over 35000 people at 4000 impressions/day.
