Well it seems that it went all the way up to the “National” level and the Ball Busters, because for whatever reason, were classed to be in a rec division are not eligible to play in the next playoff rounds, but we will likely be in Div 10 for the Winter season. That’s fine. It means that I’ve got more time for my runs, yard and family.

Ball Busters Div 12 Champs

To quote our team captain:

We hit first place halfway through the season. We finished tied for 3rd place. We lose 6 out of our last 7 games. Then the playoffs come and WOW:

4 wins in a row against the number 2 and number 1 team in the division.

I finished the playoffs with at least a goal and an assist to match what I did (I think I had 2 helpers in the regular season) in the lead up. Granted this is only rec hockey, but it’s my first championship team (that I remember) and it feels good, especially when we beat, with class, a team that had none.

The Busters are going to play in the winter as well, so that should be an interesting way to spend the regular hockey season. But before that we have city playoff, which we know nothing of yet. At least I get to think about being able to commit more time to my runs now. And if you notice, I’ve got a new section on the frontpage “My Runs”, which should pull in my run info from Nike+ now that I’ve tracked down a sportband and a sensor adapter.

Well, it’s down to one game now on the 12th for all the Div 12 marbles. The game last night was quite something. The Coolies, a classic bully/goon team did everything including spit on the faces of our players and we managed to keep our cool (congrats Mehul and Armin!) and grind out a 3-2 win. Next game Aug 12th.
