Picture of the Week – Tender Story

Tender Story

Well, Remembrance Day has passed, so that means that Christmas is officially allowed to start at the house. Last night we picked up a new wreath, but we don’t have our tree up yet. Last year we were waiting for Bug to arrive, not knowing what sort of adventure we’d be in for. I think we picked this ornament up for her. It seems that more than anything else, Christmas trees (at least for us) have become ways of remembering times and places to be thankful for. Almost all our ornaments have a story behind them. So this is all fine and dandy, but what does that have to do with the photography of it?

Well, photos tell stories, and while I was using this shot to play with multiple flashes a year ago, I also tried to get the reflection of the trio in one of the bulbs. I tried to make it really obvious that there was a reflection at first, but with the flash setup I had at the time, the light was too harsh. Now I might very well be able to do a better job with a reflector umbrella and another year of experience.

So I pulled this shot out of the archives to take another look at it and to see where I’ve grown.
