Blogging sweetness is WP 2.7… arise my FrankenBlog!

Well, I’ve got the latest WP up and running and it was almost painless. I had to “borrow” two files from the RC1 – formatting.php and gettext.php to get things to run, but that bit of hacking seems to have got things up and running well enough.

This post is done via the “QuickPress” area – missing the categories, but you can always come back to tidy those up. After I fire this off, I’ll have to see if my previous hacks are still running.

what do those two files do?
anyway, do you have any idea why the Visual Editor won’t work?
    just asking…

gettext.php is a language file from what I can tell and formatting.php was likely hiccuping with a plugin or something – I don’t really know. I’ve got the visual editor working however. If you have the time, you might want to nuke everything but content and config – that might get you to a usable state.

OK, maybe my English is not perfect, but I don’t really get the idea about “nuking”. what exactly do you say I should do? delete smth?
I’ve upgraded through WPAU, so I guess this mught be one of the problems, I don’t know… Still…

nuking – is slang for either deleting everything and starting over again… or using the microwave. In this case it would be deleting – I don’t know how you would microwave your blog 😉

New Dashboard is great. I liked the “customizable” features. WordPress leading the way in blogs.

Every new version of WordPress comes with a wp-config-sample.php file, you have to compare this file to your wp-config.php file from your previous version and either add the additional config text to your wp-config.php or rename wp-config-sample.php to wp-config.php and make sure all the database settings are filled in again.

This might be useful for those who need to change their language, but not for me. My issues seems to have been related to something else – as likely as not a conflict with a theme/plugin.
