Well it took two tries but my WordPress install made the jump all on it’s own to 2.7.1… I feel so proud! I was worried because I had to hack the system a bit to get 2.7 to work at all (using parts of the beta and parts of the production release) and thought the fail that I got the first time I ran the upgrade was due to that. But on trying the second time, it all worked really fast. I’ll check the speed with my other installs, but as those are barely modified at all, I expect those to be easy. I do find it interesting that WP now has an auto updater, but does not have an auto backup that runs at the same time – they still advise you to do that separately.
